DCA is seeking to recruit an energetic Kenyan National for an internship position as Data Analysis & Reporting Assistant. The intern will serve for a period of one year. The position is Nairobi based with travels to the field and reports to the Design, Monitoring, Evaluation & Partnerships Officer (DMEP Officer).
The Data Analysis & Reporting Assistant will support DCA Kenya and partners to embed MEAL systems, processes, to drive project quality improvement, generate evidence of the impact of our work and foster learning across the organization.
The main responsibilities of the Assistant are:
Data Collection, analysis & reporting
- Development of data collection tools
- Running quality checks on data collected, for all projects.
- Working with DCA and partner staff members in establishing M&E systems, processes, and guidelines.
- Development of progress tracking tools at project, program levels.
- Supporting in the review of and feedback on DCA project and partner reports.
M & E Activity Planning & Implementation
- Support the development of MEAL plans and M&E tools for existing and new projects.
- Development of progress tracking tools at project, program levels.
- Support planning, implementation and follow up of periodic monitoring visits to track progress, identify problems, support partners and project staff.
- M & E specific report development, with a focus on analytics and visualisation to contribute towards strategic decision-making, knowledge management, sharing best practices and program planning with program team.
- Engagement with the lead, communications, to support data-driven story-telling efforts.
- Work closely with the Program team to capture lessons learned and better practises and provide input during DCA, partner strategy and reflection events.
- Any other duty and assigned by supervising manager.
Required Qualifications:
- A university degree from an accredited educational institution in Data science, Social Sciences, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- High degree of familiarity with digital data gathering software packages (Activity info, Kobo ToolBox, Commcare, or similar), data visualization tools (Microsoft PowerBI, Tableau or similar), and data analysis software (Stata, SPSS, R, or similar).
- Demonstrated ability to translate data into reports, actionable insights, and support others to do the same.

- Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact, and diplomacy
- Fluency in at least English and Kiswahili
